Statement

I chose the words, Sweet, Heartbeat and Darkness to do mood boards, and from this I focused on Sweet, it's fun, playful and exciting. I also found it was gave me loads to work with. The activities I chose for the word sweet, was Glazing, Coating and Sticking.
I played around with swatches using sugar, buttons, glue gun,sequences, ribbons. I came across the artist Will Cotton, I really admire his work and how he portays this 'Candyland'. His work with the ribbons inspired my sculpture, I created and explotion of ribbons which resembled liqorish alsorts.
From the sculpture I was inspired to make a neckpiece. I really liked the idea of all the ribbons drapping around the body, like an explosion of sweets. I'm very happy with my piece and I think the photos really make the piece stand out and come alive.

Croquis

photos of my scultpure, different angles to see what shapes i'll get from it. However i prefered actually placing the sculpture straight into the manniquin. I places it all around thge body, as a shoulder piece, neckpiece, back detail, hips detail.

Here, is some shapes I got from the piece on the manniquin. I really liked doing this, I knew exactly how I wanted my neck piece to look.

I used collage, to bring colour to the croquis.

I came to this piece which inspired my final project.

Will Cotton, painter, inspired katy Perrys video for  'California Girls'. Cotton wanted to recreate a 'Candyland' that we create in our imagination as children.

Sweet

For this project, we chose three words that appealed to us, I chose,

• Sweet
• Heartbeat
• Darkness

From these words we chose activities relating to them,

• Sweet - Glazing, Coating, Licking, Sticking
• Heartbeat - Pounding, Pumping, Racing
• Darkness - Fading, Spraying, Dissapearing, Colour Blocking

After I did up a mood board for each word, I chose to focus on the word Sweet, I got alot of ideas for swatches and found 'sweet' to be the most exciting word to play around with.
